How to import into Garmin Connect
- Open Garmin Connect → Import Data on a computer.
- Weigh-ins: drop
fitbit-weight.fitand click Import Data. - Workouts: drop the
.fitfiles from theworkoutsfolder, up to 100 at a time. A file imported twice is simply skipped. - Daily steps: drop one
activities-YEAR.csvat a time. When Garmin asks, choose Centimeters, Meters, Kilometers and the 2026-12-31 date format.
Garmin Connect shows odd calorie numbers for days imported from Fitbit files, with any tool. Steps, distance and intensity minutes are right.

Get your Fitbit export
Fitbit is now called Google Health. Your data is exported from your Google account.
- Open Google Takeout with the Google account you use in the Fitbit / Google Health app.
- Click Deselect all, then tick Google Health.
- Click Next step → Create export. Google emails you a ZIP, often within the hour, sometimes a day or two.
- Download the ZIP and drop it above. No need to unpack it.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no payment, use it as often as you like. It reads up to 500 MB of steps, weight and workout data per run, which is about ten years of minute-by-minute Fitbit history; the ZIP itself can be any size.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Your export is read and converted in this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and you never sign in to Google or Garmin here.
Will it create duplicates in Garmin Connect?
No. If you also wore a Garmin, days, workouts and weigh-ins that already came from Garmin are left out. Importing the same workout file twice is skipped by Garmin.
Why can’t I move sleep and heart rate?
Garmin Connect only imports activities, daily steps and body measurements. There is no way to add sleep or heart-rate history to it, with this or any other tool.
Do workouts keep their GPS map?
Not yet. Workouts arrive with type, start time, duration, distance, calories and average heart rate, which is what Google’s export contains for most of them.
I don’t see Google Health in Takeout
You are probably signed in to a different Google account. In the Fitbit / Google Health app, open your profile to see which email it uses, then switch to that account in Takeout (avatar, top right). Work and school accounts usually don’t have it.
My Fitbit account was never moved to Google
If you can still sign in at fitbit.com → Settings → Data export, request your data there. That ZIP works here too.
The ZIP is split into several parts
Big exports come as takeout-…-001.zip, -002.zip and so on. Drop all of them at once. Choose .zip, not .tgz, as the file type.
